Elizabeth Way Reopens Community Funding After Cricket Club Grant

Charities and community projects that make a positive difference in Mossley can once again apply for grants from Elizabeth Way Funeral Directors to support their valuable work.

The Elizabeth Way & Company Community Assistance Programme has supported more than ten local projects since it began in 2024, the latest being the historic Micklehurst Cricket & Social Club where money went toward renovating the outside seating area close to the clubhouse.

Funeral Director Ben McCutcheon said: “The area looks absolutely brilliant now and is a great place for club members and visitors to sit outside and watch the cricket, just in time for the new season.

“We know the club survives on the hard work and decision of its volunteers and the support they receive from the community, which is why we were thrilled to help.

“I loved getting across to the club and meeting Chairman Garry Kippax, especially as the new seating area has been nicknamed Kippax Corner.

“I hope we can have an ongoing relationship with them in the future.”

The Elizabeth Way Community Assistance Programme has now reopened for applications with projects within three miles of their funeral home in Stamford Street, Mossley, eligible to apply.

Grants are available to fund local activities which improve the quality of life of residents and the wider community.

Funeral Director Pauline Lawrence is part of the panel which assesses the applications.

She said: “We have loved running the Community Fund and getting to know people doing great work in our area.

“I’d urge any other local charities and good causes to get in touch during this round of applications – we would love to hear from you.”

Projects must align with one of more of the fund’s four categories – Health, Education, Employment Opportunities and Poverty and Social Deprivation

This is the second of three application cycles this year, with the final one set to open in September.
